This is a fascinating dog link. The biggest no-kill animal shelter in the country is located at the southeastern tip of Utah near the tiny town of Kanab. It's called Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. (Society)

We visited there in 2005. The sanctuary is built in Angel Canyon and covers 100's of acres. (Dogtown alone is some 90 acres and food for each meal is delivered by pickup trucks twice daily.)

They take you on tours in special buses with loudspeakers to direct your attention to various landmarks. The dogs are about two miles from the cats and the horses are way down in a deep canyon by a small river.

There were over 600 dogs there when we arrived and they EACH got fed their own special diet twice daily in their own favorite feeding spot. It's a beautiful place and all 1800 animals in the sanctuary live out their lives in peace. No animal is ever euthanized, (unless terminally ill) Many are adopted out. They have their own vets and hospital on the premises for the animals.
