When you adopt you get a dog that is truly grateful for a second chance. S/he will do all possible to please you. Just teach the dog what you expect him/her to do and not to do, and when to do it. With a little effort, pet ownership can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life!

Is dog adoption and a mature pooch for you? Or, do you have some reason to patronize a breeder with puppies? Can't decide? We can help. Choosing a dog or breed puzzling you? We can help. Not even sure if you're ready for a dog yet? We will help.

Dog and puppy adoption, clicker training, positive reinforcement, dog and puppy training are all covered.

I have had a lifetime of experience with adopted dogs. I have worked in rescue kennels and cared for the less fortunate dogs in my path of life. My passion is dogs. Our dog pounds and all forms of kennels are overcrowded with wonderful pets just waiting for you to come rescue them. All they want is a kind, safe, happy, forever-home.

Also, please visit our recently added Dog Book and DVD Store where you'll find lots of good books and DVD's in ADDITION to the specific books for each Dog Breed found at the pages at the dog breeds info and profile page.

Adoption is what most of this site is all about. We list and profile all the important dog breeds in the world, detail the medical problems they are prone to and help you with choosing your dog.

Did you know up to 30% of the dogs in animal shelters are purebreds? Did you know animal shelters even take in puppies at various times? Dog adoption can give you many choices.

Need help caring for your new dog once it comes home? Nail clipping to getting your new dog to poop in the right place is covered. Visit the dog breeds section to review dog breed profiles along with health, illness and medical information for each breed.

Dog training MUST be part of the dog adoption process. Dog training is vital for a happy dog-owner relationship so training is included in this site to round out the experience. Actually, dog training is part of "caring" for the dog “A well trained dog is a happy dog” and proper use of clicker training just makes it better.

Statistically, only about 1 out of 13 puppies born ever live to see their 2nd birthday. Even fewer see their 3rd birthday. This largely because the new dog owners did NOT know how to select and then what to expect and how to deal with the dog once they got it home.

Animal shelters are overflowing with wonderful dogs waiting for a second chance family. Dog breeds for adoption change all the time at kennels and dog pounds. There's a constant turnover of breeds, and sizes of dogs, day by day.

Choosing the right dog and training the dog are two of the most important aspects of canine ownership. Understanding what to expect and how to handle a dog completes the picture of dog adoption.
